Another Old Harbour Police on Corruption Charges

Woman Constable Princess Bennett was offered bail in the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($500,000.00) when she appeared in the St. Catherine Parish Court on Corruption charges last week.

On Sunday December 4, 2016, was a part of a Police team on patrol in the Old Harbour area that signaled a motorist to stop. Upon requesting the documents for the vehicle, she observed that the vehicle documents were expired. Woman Constable Bennett along with Corporal Arnold Gordon proceeded to solicit Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00) from the motorist so that he would not to be prosecuted for violating the Road Traffic Act. When the money was not forthcoming the motor vehicle was seized.

A report was made to MOCA which resulted in the arrest of Corporal Gordon, he was later positively identified during an Identification Parade. Subsequently he was charged on Thursday February 9, 2017.

Woman Constable Bennett, who was absent from work at the time of Gordon’s arrrest was later arrested by operatives from MOCA and placed on an Identification Parade where she was also positively identified by the complainant on Tuesday March 7, 2017.

Both will return to court on Tuesday April 11, 2017.
