Little Hope for Hope Town’s Scammer

Thirty-year-old Anita Duncan of Hope Town Road, St. Andrew was today remanded in custody when she appeared in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court. Duncan was on Monday May 8, 2017, arrested and charged by MOCA detectives for breaches of the Larceny Act and of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) (Special Provisions) Act.

It is alleged that between May 2 – 7, 2017, Duncan conspired with an inmate to sell two motor vehicles to a man with a down payment of Two Hundred and Forty Thousand Dollars ($240,000.00). The matter was reported to MOCA by the third who initiated the transaction after he observed some inconsistencies and discrepancies about the details of the transaction.

Following an investigation, Duncan was arrested during an operation when she met with the victim to collect the money at a financial institution in the Corporate Area. 

She is scheduled to return to the Kinston and St. Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday May 17, 2017.
