The Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency and The Revenue Protection Division have further strengthened their partnership with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on March 28, 2017.

The signing took place at MOCA’s Headquarters in Kingston by the Director General of MOCA, Colonel Desmond Edwards and Commissioner of RPD, Major (Ret’d) Johanna Lewin.

The MOU stands to formalise the close relationship that has already seen both Law Enforcement entities working and supporting one another on joint investigations, operations and prosecutions. Both organisations are committed to continuing to work together with the joint aims of preventing and detecting the loss of revenue and tackling major organised crime.

Collaborations such as these are critical in the fight against significant and complex financial crime and corruption.

Director General of MOCA states “The signing of this MOU represents a further strengthening and formalisation of our close working relationship with RPD. Through collaboration both entities will combine efforts to identify and tackle those responsible for the significant loss of Revenue and those engaged in Major Organised Crime.”

Commissioner of RPD, Major (Ret’d) Johanna Lewin states “the RPD & MOCA have long established a working relationship epitomized and goes to the root of the pervasive corruption and fraud which affects the Revenue. Our collective and different strengths have already borne fruit with successful operations, prosecutions and continuing matters in the Court. This MOU merely solidifies and codifies this ongoing collaboration, ensures a measure of continuity and clarity in the form, not the substance, and signals to criminals everywhere that law enforcement is united and will bring all that we have to bear on their illicit operations and enterprises.”
